These days when you hear the name Google, you probably go, “Uh-oh Spaghettio.” But maybe you should take pause. Though Google’s crackdown has been frustrating for some, in the end it will probably make affiliate marketing a lot more conducive to the success of legit online businesses.
So here’s the latest buzz on the Google front. They just introduced and will start to enforce new subdomain URL policy changes for Adwords Advertisers. It’s part of their plan to put the kibosh on Adwords Advertising Subdomain “spammers.” Anyone still bold enough to pull these types o’ tricks will have yet another slam-bam Google crackdown dropped on their heads.
Google’s new URL adjustment was designed and put in place to deal with sites that sit on shared or hosted domains. The rules will be strictly enforced to ensure advertisers are sending visitors to the 100% correct destination and display urls – which can only be a good thing for consumer trust in the long run.
Here’s an example of the adjustments in action.
Destination URL:
http://buymydodgyproductoffer.com
Display URL:
http://stealthysubdomain.buymydodgyproductoffer.com
Under the new rules you won’t be allowed to do this. Any subdomains being used as “redirects” will be automatically banned and the policy will be enforced to the letter. So if you have campaigns setup this way, with this type of URL-structure, it would be ultra wise to go in there and quickly change them up.
