Our aim was perfect. We landed BAM!, right in the back of Volochek’s car – much to his chagrin. He uttered a few choice expletives. We could see the panic in his eyes.

0011 and I forced him to pull over to the side of the road. He jumped out of the vehicle and tried to run so I shot him in the left leg. He stumbled. We pounced on him, wrestling him to the ground. After a skirmish we were finally able to put him in proper restraints.

Agent 0011 called in the collar. Within ten minutes Mum had a white Agency van pick us up and take us to the Department Of Homeland Security in Memphis for processing.

While Volocheck was still in his Homeland Security cell, 0011 and I went out and grabbed some authentic Southern ‘chow’. We also took in some LIVE Blues before heading back to the Consulate and escorting Volochek to the airport to board a plane for Belgrade.

Volochek didn’t say a single word the entire time in our custody. I think he knew it was the beginning of the end for him and his criminal behavior. Now he would have to stand trial in Europe where a crowd of angry protestors and incessant media attention would only signal the start of his undoing.

Mission accomplished. Slice of cake, wouldn’t you say?

Meanwhile, on the ground, totally unaware he is being watched…

Klaus Volochek, serenely thinks to himself as he speeds down the Interstate in his stolen red cadillac – top down, radio blaring.

“Oh, boy, I really love this song. Reminds me of back in Serbia, when I was little boy, and we listen to American radio station when over at Yevgeny’s house playing cards and drinking vodka in kitchen. We never know what lyrics mean but we think beat is very wonderful.

[He taps the steering wheel to the rhythm. Sings the lyrics out loud in broken english].

“It makes me miss home country.”

[One single tear comes to his eye].

“Yes, I miss it my home country. When police heat dials down I go back to visit my femily and friend. Like the olden days. Before all troubles started…

[Sings the chorus out loud as he accelerates].

“But for now, I needs getting some afternoon delight. It making me feel much better…”

When the pilot informed us that we had reached a peak altitude of 30,000 feet, Mayweather opened the cargo doors and we were out like a shout. 0011 did a classic double back flip. I did a more traditional jack-knife; Special Agent style, saluting the Sun.

Mayweather gave us a short personal history of our target as the Super Otter climbed higher and higher into the sky.

Klaus Volochek had grown up in a poor neighborhood in Montenegro in the 1980s. He was in trouble with the law from a young age – showing a natural inclination toward crime and mischief.

He was no petty criminal though. By the time he was 17 he was running his own gun smuggling operation, supplying local guerillas with the weapons they needed to wage war on the national army.

He quickly developed a reputation as a fearless street-general and brilliant military tactitican. His cunning and ruthless attitude made him widely feared and respected among both the guerillas and authorities alike. His willingness to “erase” anyone who spoke or acted against his command helped him rise to a position of leadership in a very short time.

Apparently our Agency had planted a mole within his operation several years ago. We got involved because Volochek was under suspicion of committing war crimes, and it was our Agency’s task to gather evidence to support a criminal trial against him.

Agent 001 had managed to infiltrate his organization and got very close to Volochek, all the while relaying inside information back to base in London. Eventually 001′s stellar undercover work led to the arrest of several key members of Volochek’s army.

Unfortunately the arrests caused suspicion in the ranks of Volocheck’s army. Volochek was too smart and too dangerous to be played for very long. He sniffed out the mole in a matter of weeks and killed 001 himself.

Luckily, prior to his death, 001 was able to plant a homing beacon on Volochek that allowed us to track him to Memphis, Tennessee.

One thing was for certain now. We were about to find out just how deadly this guerilla really was…

Barely a week had gone by after the tragic death of Agent 004 at the hands of Buju Randal’s savage school of tiger sharks when I got my second assignment as an official Special Agent.

Mum contacted me from Headquarters in London and told me to fly to Memphis Tennessee that same night. There would be a DHC-3 Super Otter waiting for me at the airport that would embark immediately to take me to the location of the target. One of Mum’s officer’s would be there to provide all the information I needed before mission launch.

Agent 0011 was assigned as my backup for the mission. He would be there to meet me on the tarmac when I arrived. Mum provided no further details regarding the nature of the assignment, and I didn’t feel it necessary to inquire.

I took the red-eye to Memphis two hours later. When I arrived at Memphis International Airport both Officer Mayweather from HQ and Agent 0011 were waiting for me at the gate. We quickly sped off in a luggage buggy, winding our way around parked planes en route to a second terminal where the DH3-C Super Otter was waiting.

We were given parachute jump gear to change into. The plane took to the air as we suited up. While still in mid-climb, Mayweather debriefed us on our mission. Our target was Klaus Volochek, a Serbian war-criminal wanted by Europe’s highest court. The orders came straight from the top.

The degree of difficulty for this assignment seemed extraordinary even by Special Agent standards. We were ordered to parachute directly into Volochek’s speeding vehicle from 30,000 feet. Our helmets were outfitted with high-tech geo-location scanners that would enable us to locate him and calibrate our landing accordingly.

There was very little room for error. Once we had apprehended the target, we were to escort him back overseas to face criminal trial.

We passed several long-legged goddesses in the lobby, so I had to rein 004 in or we might not have made our appointment. We finally got to the elevator and punched the button to Aqua 7.

A soothing elevator musak played softly over the silence as we waited for the doors to open. I could hear the subtle sounds of a gentleman talking to the concierge at the Reception desk. The elevator bell rang. *Ding.* My heart started to beat faster. When the elevator doors finally opened we drew our guns and calmly stepped in.

Everything seemed normal at first. We started our slow descent. CNN was playing on the inset Television. More riots and protests in the Middle East. Suddenly I got a funny feeling something wasn’t right. That’s when the elevator began to hurtle downward with gut-wrenching velocity.

“Holy sh*t!!”, yelled 004.

I grabbed the elevator rail for support.

Suddenly the elevator floor opened up and we both fell 50 feet downward into a huge indoor aquarium of freezing cold Atlantic water.

The whole thing had been a trap, and we were the catch!

When I dropped the figure, the deal was sealed. A light went on in his eye. He was suddenly more than willing to set up a meeting with The Tooth himself. We were given instructions to take the elevator to Aqua Floor 7, where we would be taken on a guided tour of the facility. We shook hands with our point of contact. As we got up from the table he gave nothing away with the expression on his face. 004 settled our tab and we made our way to the elevator…

0011 plummeted out of the sky like a comet, careening toward the ocean. I took a moment to a second to relish my victory and another successful mission under my belt. Too bad about 0011. He had brought it on himself though.

I called in the Coast Guard and they picked him up some 150 miles off shore. He would soon stand trial for treason.

I flew back to the airfield and contacted Mum. She was very pleased with the result. After all was said and done I had stopped a potentially disastrous exchange of classified military documents. Calamity averted, thanks to yours truly. I felt I might even be in line for a promotion.

Enough business talk however. It was time for an epic celebration before my flight back to Headquarters tomorrow. Los Angeles night clubs. Big city lights. Gorgeous women. Fine liquor. Wherever the party might take me, I would be sure to follow.

Special Agent 009 signing off.

THE END

0011 launched high up into the California sky and I was right behind him. Our chase took us on a winding labyrinthine path through the desert canyons of the Mohave and screaming over scrub brush, pristine lakes, and vast red sands. Jet stream sliced the sky into smokey quadrants. Battle signs for passing motorists on the Interstate below.

Good thing I brought my iPod. I had Beethoven’s 5th to listen to as I fired round after round at the enemy target, in what I must admit had to be the most exhilarating dogfight of my young career. 0011 was a slippery opponent though – with his deft slip and dodge tactics he expertly turned my steel messengers aside as if they were flies.

After about 10 minutes of aerial acrobatics I became convinced that 0011 had taken advanced training lessons since the last time we faced off at The Academy. Again I was impressed. At least this mission had not been a bore. Nonetheless, I was getting a little tired of all this tomfoolery. I needed to pull the kill switch on his pesky and relentless attempts at escape.

I suddenly remembered that back at The Academy 0011 was known for his tendency to cut the engines in order to force his opponent to fly overhead. He would then change his direction and flee the scene. The opponent was always left wondering where he had vanished to. I was betting he still kept this trick in his arsenal, and when he pulled it, I would be ready.

Just before we entered yet another towering mountain pass 0011 cut his engines. I anticipated it perfectly, and as he passed beneath me, I unloaded a volley of destruction from my wing machine guns. Direct strike.

Business as usual. I saw the whites of 0011 eyes as his plane went up in flames and began to spin out of control…
