Sunday

We arrived in Munich after 18 hours of air travel to be greeted by our good friend Jim Banks, who was fully refreshed and eager to get started on the business at hand. So, without even missing a beat, we set off to dinner at the Seehouse – in the English Gardens beer garden – with our new friend Thomas, CEO of Refined Labs. The food was spectacular (ok, snails and cheese so it’s all relative), and the lightning storm we happened into was breathtaking. We ran for a whole kilometer in the pouring rain, lightning crashing all around us, with warnings from our resident Munich companion that this was extremely dangerous (thanks to Bobbi for her adventurous thrill seeking side

Monday

Well rested Monday morning we ventured out to the Munich city square. Thomas mentioned it was a 22 minute walk (not 20 or 25, precisely 22), but the hotel staff laughed and laughed at that. More like 45. So, we took the bus and train instead. Shopping was amazing and the view from the Church tower was gorgeous. Afterward we had lunch in the city square (pizza!), and then it was time to get started networking with the folks from A4U. Off we went in our new gear to the welcome reception. It was great fun, and so was the after party in our hotel lobby. There were lots of laughs and memories of the ‘80s. A big shout out to Denise, Chandra, Rebecca, Marcus, Ray, and Dixon from Majestic SEO. It was such a pleasure to meet you!

Tuesday

Day 1 of the exhibit. We met some great contacts, ate good food and enjoyed even better conversation. We also were brave enough to attend the after party, which included some dancing on the stage with show girls, champagne being guzzled straight out of the bottle (ultra classy), and general hair-tossing, crazy-dancing antics resulting in a bit of soreness and fogginess the next day.

Wednesday

The home stretch! The day was busy with lots of good meetings (yes, we actually worked). All in all, we met lots of people, had a really great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. And, we even managed to do some business too!

We would like to say a special thank you to Matt and Sarah at A4U for being such wonderful hosts. We also really enjoyed meeting the team from Effiliation, who were kind enough to “reveal” their secret to business success inside their nude calendar.

Lots of fun and great people!

Bobbi and I are looking forward to seeing all of our friends again at Affiliate Summit East or in London at the next A4u Expo.

This year, however, RevenueWire was fortunate enough to have that chance – and we definitely did our best to make the most of it!

Power To Be Adventure Therapy is an organization with tremendous purpose and sense of social responsibility. They also have a ton of fun on the road to accomplishing their goals. From the very beginning of our partnership with Power To Be – led by Kim Krenzler (our Director of Human Resources) – staff members at RevenueWire committed to equaling the energy, drive and spirit of generosity that Power To Be represents.

This year’s end game was raising money for Power To Be through a harrowing outdoor challenge called Power To Play. That’s right. We didn’t just raise money. A team of several courageous staff members got their gear on and braved a wickedly challenging obstacle course in the name of the blue and green (Burkhard, Sarah, Ryan and Craig – you know who you are!).

To kick of our fundraising efforts we organized an awesome Power To Rock fundraising concert, in partnership with The Strathcona Hotel, to raise money for the cause. A big shout out goes to the bands Bad Monkey and The New Colors for their live performances and rousing rock n’ roll charisma, as well as host MC and DJ Jeremy Baker from The Zone 91.3fm, and contributing sponsors FoeJam and DL Sound & Lighting for making this event such an incredible success.

Through Power To Rock and a staff BBQ (big shout out to Marlon, Matt, Darrin and Jovan for the mean hot dogs), RevenueWire raised over $5,500. That number turned out to be good enough for third place overall for most money raised. Another big shout out goes to the top fundraiser out of 28 corporate teams, Paretologic, which rang up a total of $10,000 toward Power To Be. Impressive to say the least!

The RevenueWarriors team trained hard and placed a hard-fought 13th overall in the final Power To Play outdoor challenge.  As General Manager Bobbi Leach said, “Despite the relentless rain, the team powered through the mud, ran at least 10km, lifted tractor tires, pulled a van 100 yards, had paint dumped on them and got “very close” to each other”.

A contingent of loyal coworkers turned out on a dismal and bitterly chilly Sunday morning to cheer the team on through the sludge while gently heckling the competition.

This year’s Power To Play raised over $100,000. All in all, you could say it was an amazing accomplishment for everyone involved.
